In a dazzling turn of events, a LeBron James 2003-04 Exquisite Collection Basketball Rookie Patch Autograph Parallel #08/23 emerged from obscurity to steal the spotlight at the Leland’s Summer Classic Auction. Acquired back in 2004 for a mere $3,000, this gem was carefully safeguarded in a safety deposit box, ready to make its mark upon the 20th anniversary of its debut.

The Upper Deck Exquisite Collection, first unveiled in June 2004, set the stage for a remarkable rookie class featuring basketball legends like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Carmelo Anthony. Among these stars, LeBron’s #78 RPA (Rookie Patch Autograph) stood out as a true icon. With only 23 copies in circulation, including a rare parallel numbered to his jersey, this card holds a special place in the hearts of basketball card enthusiasts. The card on auction, boasting a BGS NM+ 7.5 grade with an impeccable Auto grade of 10, dazzled with its crisp autograph against a pristine white backdrop, fetching an impressive $351,029.

Not to be outdone, a 2003 Topps Chrome #111 LeBron James rookie card featuring a black refractor variant also captivated bidders at the auction. Known for their limited print runs and stunning refractor editions, LeBron’s 2003 Topps Chrome rookie cards are highly sought after by collectors. The black refractor card, graded PSA GEM MINT 10 and numbered 326 out of 500, showcased its rarity as one of only 21 copies to achieve such a pristine grade. With its black borders accentuating any flaws, this card’s final bid of $126,725 solidified its status as a must-have for any serious collector.
