CGC Cards and JSA Partnership Transforms Autographed Card Authentication

Collectors and dealers in the realm of autographed trading card games, sports cards, and non-sports cards have a reason to rejoice with the latest collaboration between CGC Cards™ and James Spence Authentication® (JSA®). This strategic partnership aims to simplify the process of submitting autographed cards for authentication and grading, providing a seamless experience for enthusiasts in the collectibles industry.

Certified Collectibles Group® (CCG®) announced this combined service shortly before the National Sports Card Convention, scheduled from July 24-28. As of July 15, 2024, CGC Cards and JSA are offering integrated authentication and grading services for autographed cards, marking a significant development in the world of collectibles. This collaboration allows collectors to submit their cards for JSA authentication and CGC Cards grading and encapsulation in one streamlined process, eliminating the hassle of dealing with multiple services.

Following the successful launch of CGC x JSA certification for comics in May, CCG acquired JSA earlier this year to expand its autograph authentication offerings. The future of this partnership looks promising, with plans for combined authentication and grading services for magazines, pulps, and concert posters on the horizon.

With the National Sports Card Convention around the corner, CGC x JSA certification services for cards will be available at the event. Collectors and dealers can take advantage of on-site services provided by CGC Cards, allowing them to have their cards authenticated, graded, and encapsulated right then and there. This convenience marks a significant step forward in ensuring a hassle-free experience for collectors.

CGC has a rich history in witnessed signature authentication, pioneering the CGC Signature Series for comics back in 2001. Now, autograph collectors can look forward to the full launch of CGC Signature Series for cards, offering a comprehensive suite of services through the combined expertise of CGC and JSA.

JSA, founded by James Spence, Jr. in 2005, has established itself as a premier autograph authentication service with the world’s largest autograph database. Utilizing cutting-edge technology and a vast image database, JSA ensures accurate authentication for autographs, adding credibility to the certified cards.

Autographed cards certified by CGC and JSA will sport a distinctive CGC x JSA Authentic Autograph label, featuring both brand names and highlighting the “Authentic Autograph” designation in yellow, a signature color of CGC. Additionally, cards can undergo autograph grading upon request, with the grade prominently displayed on the label alongside the card’s grade and description. Cards encapsulated with this label will include CGC Cards Grader Notes, offering collectors detailed information about the signers.

For top-tier cards, CGC Cards introduces the prestigious gold CGC x JSA Pristine 10 label, reserved for cards that achieve a CGC Pristine 10 grade, symbolizing the highest level of quality and authenticity.

Steven R. Eichenbaum, CEO of CCG, and James J. Spence, Jr., President of JSA, both expressed enthusiasm for this groundbreaking partnership. Eichenbaum highlighted the significance of combining world-class grading with expert autograph authentication, while Spence shared his delight in fulfilling a demand that collectors have had for almost two decades.

Collectors interested in availing these services can visit the CGC Cards website for more information on how to submit cards for CGC x JSA certification. Submission can be made through an online form, where collectors can select “JSA Autograph Authentication” after choosing their desired grading tier, with pricing dependent on the chosen tier and additional CGC Cards grading fees.

CGC and JSA are dedicated to providing collectors with top-notch services, ensuring that every submission is handled with utmost care and expertise. This collaboration signifies a significant milestone in the collectibles industry, promising to elevate the collecting experience for enthusiasts worldwide.
