Adding to the allure is a photograph believed to be the original image used for Willie Mays’ 1952 Topps card, featuring Mays’ signature, speculated to have been penned in the 1990s, enhancing its collectible value.
The online catalog for the auction showcases a plethora of over 150 vintage images, some dating back over a century. Notable among these is a photo from the 1919 World Series capturing the moment Black Sox pitcher Eddie Cicotte and Reds’ starter Dutch Reuther exchange a handshake before the infamous game at Redland Field in Cincinnati.
